I as an amateur swordsman's was able to best a rapiermen (dunno the actually name) who was competitive and placed in a national bracket of sorts (I honestly don't know if his own achievements he just pissed me off with his arrogance ( I was able to best him with a sword, well, u surprisingly 4/12 matches. This guy would beat my three other untrained friends 1/12. But apparently being unpredictable makes them unsure of their next move 😂

It was my first tournament and this fella, not from our group, speared me in the crotch on 3 seperate occasions. Had the biggest, nastiest bruise on my inner thigh. We dont use rubber spear heads either. Not to mention he brought his own that was a bit heavier than the ones we normally use. Still safe for sparring mind you. But yeah that wasnt enjoyable.

The group Im apart of does more dark age/viking age style combat but we also do Capo Ferro rapier and Hutton Saber/Bayonet as well.
